MK Food Bank Update – March 2016

Can you help please?

“The Food Bank is literally a life line. I don’t know what I would do otherwise.”

Hunger is not just a third world problem. Even in our prosperous new city of Milton Keynes, there are many people living on the edge of poverty. All it takes is a sudden, unexpected event – a bereavement, illness, redundancy or theft – to throw people into a genuine crisis.

National statistics show that some wards of Milton Keynes are within 10% of the most deprived areas in England. In one ward, the number of people relying on means tested benefits is 50% higher than the England average.

The Food Bank provides local families and individuals with essential food supplies at a time when they need them most, covering the days and weeks before they are back on their feet or other social care infrastructures can come into play.

Could you set up a Collection Point?

At your office, club, church or local pub!

It is a great way to get your collegues and friends to do something positive together for the local community. It is so easy- just put a collection box where people can see it and give out shopping lists encouraging people to donate. Everyone bringing in a few tins a month really adds up! Please download a poster and shopping lists to help you set up your own collection point. We can also supply a collection box if you need one.

You can deliver your food collection to our warehouse address as shown in the collection points listed above.

If you are unable to deliver your donation please call us on 01908 322800 so we can arrange for one of our volunteers to collect from you.

Thank you everyone x
