“Discover, explore and play in Milton Keynes”
The Pre-school Learning Alliance in Milton Keynes provides
What we are about
The Pre-school Learning Alliance in Milton Keynes has a membership of 80 pre-schools, parent and toddler groups and childcare providers.
We provide services and support to our members as well as the general public, championing the needs and providing a voice for under 5’s and their carers.
We are part of a national organisation but have a local executive sub-committee overseeing our operations. We are an adaptable charity operating in a difficult economic climate but managing to provide diverse services and react to local needs, providing a quality, value for money solution, often supporting the wider voluntary sector.
The Milton Keynes sub-committee provides a wide range of training courses, a toy library service, three pre-schools, and advice and support to parents, pre-school staff, volunteers within pre-schools and childminders. We also provide a friendly and safe stimulating creche service for children aged 0 – 5 as well as payroll services for pre-schools and the charity sector.
We are Milton Keynes Council Childcare’s preferred provider of Level 3 Childcare Qualifications and work alongside them to deliver training to the Early Years Sector.
We hold the contract to provide an Independent Supporters Programme to assist families going through the process of obtaining an EHC plan.
Our organisation survives through the hard work of our staff and committed volunteers.

The new Discovery Box Service will offer members of the Pre-school Learning Alliance the opportunity to borrow fantastic themed boxes for free!
I am loving this Idea!
The Discovery Box Service is a way for individuals, childminders and settings to borrow our themed boxes. The user should always be vigilant that the contents of the box are age appropriate for the child.
To use the Discovery Box Service a user must be a current member of the Pre-school Learning Alliance. More information about membership of the Pre-school Learning Alliance including online joining @
For a limited time, until 1st September 2015, there will not be a cost to loaning a box and the Discovery Box Service will therefore be free to members of the Pre-school Learning Alliance. After 1st September 2015, a small fee for each loan may be introduced. There is no limit to the number of loans that can be made, although only one box can be borrowed at any one time and all boxes must be returned by the Thursday before the end of the half term in which the loan was made. At the time of the loan the user will be notified of the expected return date of the box. This means that all boxes will be available for loan at the beginning of each half term. Reservations of particular boxes can be made by prior arrangement during Box Swap’s on Thursdays.
Dates of Box Swaps, (10.30am-12.00pm) for the Spring Term 2015

MKPA – Milton Keynes Play Association
Milton Keynes Play Association (MKPA) has been working with the community for 40 years, providing support for the members of staff and volunteers that work with children and young people in Milton Keynes and the surrounding area.
MKPA has two guiding principles: Making Play Happen and Making Play Matter. Knowing how vitally important these are to our children, we constantly strive to spread our message, training and resources to the wider community.
There are three core services that we offer: play, training and the provision of resources. These three together allow MKPA to encourage the development of individuals and organisations through play in the local community.
We also offer a wide range of activities and courses as well as stage fun and exciting events across the region.
If you are interested in becoming a member, annual fees start at just £10 for an individual and you gain immediate access to our huge range of training, equipment hire and retail shop resources!
